Trowbridge Station Improvements

Great Western Railway (formerly First Great Western), Network Rail and Wiltshire Council have agreed a package of station improvements at Trowbridge rail station. This includes:

  • New waiting shelters on both platforms
  • New ticket vending machines
  • New cycle parking shelters on both platforms and in the car park
  • Improvements to pedestrian access such as handrails on the footbridge
  • Resurfacing, lighting and improved layout in the car parks
  • Demolition of the old taxi office to create additional car parking spaces
  • An electric charging point for cars

Construction is scheduled to start on 5th January 2015 and due for completion on 30th March 2015.  The cost of the work is £984,325.  With funding from the government’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund, Wiltshire Council is contributing £579,319.  The remainder will be funded through the Access For All (AFA) and the National Station Improvement Programme (NSIP) funding.
