Forget the stress of sitting in traffic and try taking the train. The TransWilts Rail service launched on Sunday 8th December 2014. This service is being run by First Great Western on behalf of Wiltshire Council with funding from the government.
It runs every 2 hours on weekdays and weekends between:
This service reduces journey times between Chippenham and Trowbridge to just 20 minutes! And only 48 minutes from Westbury to Swindon.
Use our integrated journey planner to plan your journey door-to-door, and have a look at how to find the best rail fares.
To book tickets and check fares please use the National Rail Enquiries website and also check our tips for cheaper rail fares.
Fares are also available at ticket offices, on the train and from the National Rail Enquiries website. Some employers offer a discount on annual rail tickets, so make sure you ask yours.
Relaxing on the train can make your journey more enjoyable and helps to protect Wiltshire’s countryside and reduce noise and pollution in our town centres. You can browse the internet, read a paper or eat your breakfast on the way to work. Or why not fit in some exercise by cycling or walking to the station.
A full timetable can be downloaded from the Great Western Railway website. Central 1, Central 3 and West 1 show services from Wiltshire stations.
You can also create a personalized rail timetable with National Rail Enquiries’ pocket timetable. Please remember to check for any planned changes to the timetable before travelling.
