Get Walking in Wiltshire

10 May 2016

Did you know that May is ‘National Walking Month’? With the sun starting to make more of an appearance, it’s a great time to explore Wiltshire and get fit for the summer. What’s more, you can socialise with like-minded people or go with family or friends.

Get Wiltshire Walking is a Public Health funded project which aims to ensure all Wiltshire Communities have access to a free weekly led walk.  You can join any of the walks and there are no limits to how many. All walks start at the same venue and are regularly held at the same time and day of the week.

Connecting Wiltshire can give you lots of useful information about these free walking groups that are led by trained walk leaders.  Walking for Health lists a host of free walks located around Wiltshire by community area.

Details include the type of walk, length, timescales, contact details of the coordinator and amenities available during the walk. Take a look here to see if there is a Health Walk near you. There’s even a chance to donate your time as a volunteer on any of the walks.

And if walking in a group isn’t for you,  why not  take a look at our walking maps for some inspiration on where to walk in the beautiful county of Wiltshire.  You could even plan your own walk with our Journey Planner to find a route that suits you.
