Salisbury to New Forest Cycle Ride Thursday 28th April

Wiltshire Council will launch their new cycle map showing the Salisbury to New Forest cycle route on Thursday 28th April. With funding from the government’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund, the council has improved signage along the route and designed a map to show people the best routes.   The map shows quiet roads and off-road routes between Salisbury, Downton and Brockenhurst in the New Forest. It highlights places to stop and eat along the route, as well as the fantastic Downton Moot Garden.  You can then explore over 100 miles of family friendly cycle routes in the New Forest. Bicycles can also be carried free of charge on the New Forest tour buses. For riders coming from the New Forest into Salisbury, the map encourages them to explore destinations such as the Cathedral and Old Sarum.

Cyclists are welcome to join the ride, but should note that this is not an organised event and leaders/insurance are not provided. The timetable for the ride is provided below:

Salisbury riders:

11:00 am Meet at Bourne Hill, Salisbury

Cycle to Downton

12.15 pm Meet at the Borough Café Downton, photos

12.30 pm  Cycle to Nomansland,  (1 hr plus 2 hrs – 2.5 hrs to return to Salisbury) OR Cycle directly back to Salisbury for less ambitious riders (approx. 1 hour)

New Forest/southern riders:

11:00 am Meet at Nomansland

Cycle to Downton

12.15 pm Meet at the Borough Café Downton, photos

12.30 pm  Cycle to Salisbury  (1 hr plus 2 hrs – 2.5 hrs to return to Nomansland) OR Cycle back to Nomansland for less ambitious riders (approx. 1 hour)
