Malmesbury A429 access improvements complete

Highway work to improve traffic flows in Malmesbury and to support opportunities for the future expansion of Dyson are now complete.

The work which included adding new roundabouts was funded by The Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership (SWLEP), Wiltshire Council, and Dyson.

The project is one among a number of major schemes benefiting from the Government’s £140m Growth Deal funding package for Swindon and Wiltshire. The improvements will help enable the expansion of Dyson’s research and development activities in Malmesbury, giving both a direct and indirect boost to local employment, and supporting Dyson’s goal to double its research and development footprint.

Fleur de Rhe-Philipe, Wiltshire Council cabinet member with responsibility for economic development, skills, strategic transport and strategic property, said: “These improvements can support Dyson’s future plans for a new research and development centre and technology campus, helping to create 3,000 high value jobs. Dyson is of significant importance to Wiltshire as a major employer, and this work will assist their continued growth”.

Barry Dennington, chair of the SWLEP, said: “The SWLEP’s vision is focused on driving economic growth in the area and this is a key project for us in achieving our ambitions. Dyson’s planned expansion is a major vote of confidence in Wiltshire and we are delighted that the SWLEP has been able to support this expansion by enabling the delivery of these essential highways improvements”.
