M3 and A338 Roadworks

South West Trains are encouraging people to try the train to avoid roadworks over the next year. For people travelling between Salisbury and Bournemouth, or travelling from Wiltshire to Basingstoke and London, roadworks on the A338 and M3 will affect journeys into 2016.

Roads around Bournemouth are likely to be busier until May 2016. The train from Salisbury to Bournemouth takes around 1h25 mins.   The X3 bus will also be running a temporary timetable over this time.

Routes into London via Basingstoke are also likely to see delays, with work around Basingstoke continuing to February 2016, and work around Farnborough continuing into late 2016. There is a direct train from Salisbury to Bournemouth that takes around 43 minutes.
