Local Enterprise Partnership Board to consider major transport schemes

10 May 2016

At its meeting on 11 May, the Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership (SWLEP) Board will consider the business cases of two local major transport schemes:

  •  A350 Chippenham Bypass Improvements (Badger-Brook & Chequers)
  • M4 J16 Improvement

Following the recent completion of improvement works at Bumpers Farm and Brook roundabouts on the A350 Chippenham Bypass, the next scheme proposal is to dual the section of road between Badger (Morrisons) and Brook roundabouts, and improve the junction at the A4/A350 Chequers (McDonalds) roundabout.

The SWLEP Board will be considering the scheme’s Outline Business Case prior to its progression to Full Business Case and planned construction start in June 2017. If approved, the scheme is scheduled to be opened by August 2018.

Improvement works at junction 16 on the M4 are being progressed by Swindon Borough Council as part of the Wichelstowe development. The SWLEP Board is to consider the scheme’s Full Business Case which proposes a scheme start in July 2016 and opening by the end of 2017.

Covering reports, business case documents and associated information on the above are available from the SWLEP website.
