New cycle paths in Chippenham and Salisbury
11 Sep 2015New cycle paths have been completed in Chippenham and Salisbury, with more under construction.
In Chippenham, the following improvements have been made:
- a shared use path along Hungerdown Lane from the Bath Road junction, up to the Sheldon Road junction
- improvements to paths through Monkton Park
- upgrading the footpath between Long Close and Hardens Mead to a cycle path
- widening of the footway on Wood Lane/ Avenue La Fleche to create a shared use path and a better connection to Wood Lane.
Work is currently underway to widen the footway to create a cycle path link between Forest Lane and Lodge Lane

In Salisbury, Highways England are planning to undertake work to provide improved cycle facilities around the A36 Churchill Way. The works are due to begin on the 9th September 2015 and last for approximately 8 weeks. This work is not being carried out by Wiltshire Council, but will complement the work the council recently carried out at St Mark’s Roundabout. The new cycle paths will link the Castle Roundabout subways to Hulse Road, Victoria Road, and Wyndham Road.
The council recently carried out improvements along Devizes Road and on Harnham Road.
