Catch the bus week
28 Apr 2014Catch the Bus week runs from 28th – 4th May. Taking public transport can help you stay healthy, as it increases your levels of walking. It also reduces pollution and congestion , and helps boost the economy.
So why not try taking the bus to work one day a week, or using it to visit friends or go shopping. If you don’t live close to a bus stop, have you considered cycling or driving to a bus stop? Another great idea is to take a folding bike on the bus. Use our journey planner to explore your options. Later in the summer we’ll be launching an interactive online bus map for the whole county and new printed bus maps for Trowbridge, Chippenham, Bradford-on-Avon, Melksham and Malmesbury. We’ll also be running a series of free days on the Bradford Town bus and Melksham Town bus so keep checking back for dates.
You might have noticed a new feature on our website which allows people to see live twitter updates about disruptions to services or changes to timetables. These updates are provided by participating operators including First Bus, Salisbury Reds and Frome Minibuses who run the Bradford-on-Avon town bus and Melksham Metro with support from Wiltshire Council.
To help get you started, you can get a free ticket from Salisbury Reds on Tuesday 29th April in the Guildhall, Salisbury.
Or why not try the free Melksham rail bus
